Next Generation Project with Boston Ballet

In 2023, I was honored to perform as second clarinet in Boston Ballet’s annual Next Generation Project, held at the elegant Citizens Bank Opera House. This one-night-only concert brings together rising stars—dancers from Boston Ballet II, the Graduate Program, and the Professional Division at Walnut Hill School for the Arts—showcasing both classical pas de deux and fresh contemporary choreography. The evening is elevated by live accompaniment from the Next Generation Orchestra, a talented ensemble of young musicians from top youth orchestras and music schools across Boston

A Meaningful Musical Collaboration in Community

Performing alongside such driven and professional young dancers felt incredibly rewarding—not only because of their artistic skill but also their warmth and humility. After every rehearsal and performance, the dancers came down to the orchestra pit to thank us musicians, which added such a human touch to the experience. Being part of this project was a truly meaningful and cherished opportunity. Even though I joined as part of the ensemble for the first time, working closely with talented peers in a historic venue, and seeing how music and movement came together to support these young artists—it’s something I look back on with genuine fondness.
